FREEDOM IS THE PRIVACY TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR OUR BODY AND FAMILY. IT IS BEING SAFE FROM WEAPONS OF WAR IN OUR COMMUNITY.
I’m running for office in Western Wisconsin’s 30th Assembly district to replace Shannon Zimmerman, our current Republican representative who supported allowing an 1849 Wisconsin law criminalizing abortion to go into effect as written. This law now governs a woman’s right to choose whether to have a baby, preventing her from making her own decision even in the event of rape, incest or risk to her life.
Adjacent to the Twin Cities, the 30th district has the potential to build a strong, thriving economy that works for everyone. Unfortunately, under Shannon and the Republicans, we remain hostile to women’s rights, young families, and have become a barrier to our own prosperity when we choose 1849 over the 21st century.
As a proud mother, wife, and person of faith – I know we can reduce abortion and create a society that truly supports women and families. I know we can protect women’s rights and not reduce us to property in the eyes of the law. I know we can join other industrialized countries in the world and have both.
Time for a representative that won’t reduce women to property in the eyes of the law and who is committed to building an economy that works for everyone. Freedom is being able to send our kids to school without fear that some deranged teenager is going to slaughter them with a weapon of war. Freedom is to live in a community knowing we are safe.
